Categorization of the water status of rice inoculated with arbuscular mycorrhizae and with water deficit

Introduction. The water deficit negatively affects rice plants and limits their productivity. Arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis has been shown to improve productivity in drought conditions. Objective. To propose a new categorization for the state of stress inoculated (AM) or not with arbuscular fungi (nonAM) exposed (D) during vegetative phase. Materials methods. experiment was carried out under controlled greenhouse conditions years 2009 2010 at Zaidín Experimental Station, Granada, Spain. transplantation fourteen days after germination pots 5 cm sheet 30, 40, 50 (DAT) they were subjected period 15 days, which time restored. control treatment maintained throughout cycle flood (ww). Evaluations performed 45, 55, 65 DAT recovery 122 DAT. harvest 147 Results. reduction supply demonstrated plants, manifested by decrease potential leaves. always favored status plant. Four categories proposed taking into account potentials agricultural yield: no (≥-0.67 MPa); light (<-0.67 -1.20 moderate (<-1.20 -1.60 MPa), severe (<-1.60 MPa). Conclusion. due is tool high scientific value specific case rice, since this plant capacity adapt tolerate presence its biological highly susceptible deficit.
